Monica (Original)

This artwork was created from abandoned skate decks I collected from various skate parks around Brisbane, Australia.  It perfectly captures the juxtaposition of transforming ugly, discarded waste into an artwork of beauty.  I left every scratch, dent and chip in the skate decks, as every imperfection is a story left by the skateboarders.  The orange depicts when days go well, and the purple represents dark days.  Purple flowers and shadows gloom over the sunny days, personifying that not every day can be perfect. Flickers of hope are symbolised by the orange flowers creeping into the dark mindset.
