Growing up, Star Wars was one of those worlds that completely pulled me in. Out of all the characters, Yoda always stood apart to me. He wasn’t the loudest or most physically intimidating figure in the universe, yet he carried the greatest sense of wisdom, control and inner strength. As a Jedi Master, his power came through calmness, discipline and determination — qualities I wanted to capture in this painting through his expression and posture.
Rather than creating a polished or cinematic version of Yoda, I wanted this artwork to feel intense and alive. The glow of the green lightsaber cuts through the darkness and illuminates his face, creating dramatic contrast against the deep purple tones that have become a signature part of my work. The purple background adds an otherworldly energy while also allowing the green light to vibrate across the surface of the painting.
One of my favourite details in this piece is the texture and movement throughout Yoda’s face and robe. I wanted every brushstroke to feel energetic, almost like the Force itself was flowing through the canvas. There’s wisdom in his eyes, but also resilience – the feeling of someone who has endured battles, loss and responsibility, yet remains grounded.
I painted this artwork using the end of a broken lightsaber. That unexpected tool became part of the creative process itself, allowing me to create sharper textures and unpredictable marks that gave the piece even more character and movement. It was the perfect way to merge the physical act of painting with the mythology and energy of the Star Wars universe that inspired it.
