Walt Story

This artwork began with an act of destruction – me thrashing a giant Mickey Mouse toy against the canvas to smear paint, create chaos, and attack the surface with raw energy. The process looked anything but magical. It was loud, physical, and unpredictable, as though I was dismantling one of the most recognisable symbols in popular culture.

Yet from that chaos, something unexpected emerged. The violent movement of Mickey across the canvas became the foundation for a portrait of Walt Disney himself, the visionary whose imagination gave life to the character. What began as disruption transformed into creation, reflecting the way great ideas are often born from uncertainty, experimentation, and risk.

The Mickey silhouette remains behind Walt, almost like a shadow of his legacy. While Mickey became a global icon, every enduring creation begins with a single person willing to dream beyond what others can see. The contrast between the aggressive process and the finished portrait mirrors Disney’s own journey of turning impossible ideas into reality.

For me, this piece is about transformation—the collision of chaos and imagination. It is a tribute to Walt Disney’s achievements and the creative courage required to bring an idea to life.
