In this contemporary portrait, I reimagine a timeless figure through a modern lens. Using acrylic paint applied with a wine bottle, I embrace spontaneity and unconventional creativity. The result is a playful yet meaningful approach to a familiar subject.

The artwork depicts Jesus holding a candle. Its warm glow illuminates his serene expression and invites the viewer to pause for a moment of calm and quiet reflection.

Meanwhile, Jesus’s hair takes on a contemporary twist with subtle purple highlights. His cloak features my signature pinks and oranges, while his green halo creates a striking contrast. Together, these colours balance vibrancy with a sense of calm.

Through this piece, I explore the space between ritual and play, reverence and experimentation. I wanted to show that spiritual presence can be expressed through both traditional symbolism and modern, inventive techniques.

The creation process also attracted a viral response, highlighting the universal fascination with both the act of making and the power of reinterpretation. Ultimately, this artwork shows how art can connect people across time, medium and perspective.
